The NANTISTA Project

It is confirmed that radioactive material was subject to illegal trafficking from mafia and terrorist groups, which constitutes a serious threat to the population and could dramatically endanger its health. These groups are using standard unprotected transports and infrastructures – trucks, train, harbors or airports – for material transits. The NANTISTA project is a 42 month collaborative public-private partnership project that aims to develop a low-cost solution that can be deployed at a large scale by states to detect and identify radiological threats. It proposes a unified nuclear threat detection platform in order to reach the full potential of low-cost and robust solid organic scintillators designed in a previous Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) project. This is enabled by using recent neuromorphic signal processing. It aims at designing very low-cost systems for homeland security applications that would enable large scale monitoring and securing good transit in Europe.

job opportunities

A partnership between the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and Université de Bourgogne is developing new approaches for the CBRN threats detection and especially focuses on neutron-gamma discrimination and radionuclide identifications. These approaches cover the whole spectrum of the instrumentation, from the design of sensor to the design of the signal processing algorithms. The Université...

Work-Packages

Nantista project is composed of fi ve Work-Packages (WPs). The timeline of WPs is presented in figure below. Each Work-Package (WP) specifi cally addresses project problematics and is managed by a member of the consortium. Workpackage is subdivided in tasks and each task is managed by a member of the project. WP0 Project management This WP deals with...

Themes of Research

5The NANTISTA project focuses on two major research themes. The first is related to radionuclide identifications, developments in this domain are intended to be used by Radiation Portal Monitors. The project aims at developping electronic modules that comprises acquisition device associated to signal processing. The latter can be used with different kind of detectors, experiments...
